MIHM had access to an exclusive and very interesting interview with the beautiful and talented Eva Larue from CSI: Miami.

MIHM: What inspired you to pursue an acting career in showbiz and can you talk about some of your first experiences on set/being hired as a professional?

EL: Ever since I was a little girl, I loved to sing and dance and I was always organizing the neighbor kids to put on plays and shows in the yard. I guess I always knew that I wanted to be in show business. Performing was in my blood. Fortunately my mother was a dance teacher and she was a real advocate for the performing arts. She was incredibly supportive of taking me to auditions, dance classes, singing lessons and all of the stuff you need to be a well rounded performer. Gosh, I had so many jobs early in my career. The one that stands out the most is probably a Kentucky Fried Chicken commercial I did as a teenager. Another memorable early role was on Married With Children.

MIHM: You came back to All My Children this year for some final episodes. How did you feel to be back?

EL: When my manager told me that the show was being cancelled after all those years, I was sad beyond belief. I grew up at All My Children and it was like a family to me for over twelve years. Sarah Michelle Gellar is like a sister to me and Mark Consuelo and Kelly Ripa’s son is my godchild! I adore Susan Lucci and the list goes on and on. I got to go back the second to the last month for two episodes and then I returned for the third to the last day with Sarah. Sarah, Kelly and I shared a dressing room for two years while on the show but Sarah and I never worked together on screen. We finally did. It was so much fun and yet so bitter sweet. I will always hold a special place in my heart for All My Children. I can’t even talk about it without crying.

MIHM: You have been starring on the TV series, CSI:Miami for the last 7 years. Can you tell us a little bit about this experience?

EL: I had just gotten a divorce and I was living on the East Coast with no job prospects on the horizon. I knew I wanted to move back to Los Angeles when I was asked to audition for the role of “Natalia” but I never made it to the audition because my daughter almost drowned in Mark and Kelly’s pool in the Hamptons. Finally, I was able to put myself on tape and send it to Los Angeles. The angels were with me because the producers hired me. It is the best job in the world! I love going to work and I could not imagine what my life would be like if I was not on this show!

MIHM: What about your music career? In 2004, you received an Emmy nomination for composing the song, “Dance Again With You”. How many songs have you composed and what about a career as a singer?

EL: Yes, I cowrote and sand the song “Dance Again With You” which received an Emmy nomination for Best Original Song. The song was included in an episode of All My Children. It was so much fun to work on. At the same time I put out a CD that you could buy on my website, EvaLaRue.com. At this point in my career, I don’t see myself pursuing so much of the music because it takes so much time. I would love to do a musical one day. I would love to do a show like Glee or perhaps a Broadway play!

MIHM: Define what success means to you?

EL: Success is whatever it is that you are doing everyday that drives you passionately and makes you want to work 150%. For me it is acting and performing.

MIHM: What advice do you have for new actors breaking into the business today?

EL: I would tell them that Hollywood is a tough business. They don’t call it show “fun“. They call it show “business“. It takes tons of work and determination. It is

loaded with tons of rejection. It is not for the thin skinned. You have to be able to get up everyday and love the process of taking classes, workshops and auditions. You need to constantly be working at your craft. You have to be careful because Hollywood is a great town but there are also plenty of people who will take advantage of you and too many young hopefuls end up going down the wrong path. Above all, this has to be the only career that you could ever see for yourself. This has to be your total and utter passion. At the end of every day, don’t ever give up your dreams and don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.

MIHM: You are the national spokesperson for Beckstrand Cancer Foundation. Can you tell us a little bit about that?

EL: Beckstrand Cancer Foundation is one of the best charities I have ever worked with and I am so proud that I am a part of this great group. Basically we offer financial assistance for everyday needs to those families in Los Angeles and Orange Counties who are going through cancer treatment. At Beckstrand we try to help as many families as possible. We also started a national scholarship program for those young people who are receiving cancer treatment. To find out more about Beckstrand and how to give go to www.Beckstrand.org.

MIHM: What are you working on now?

EL: I am constantly working closely with the staff at Beckstrand to keep the organization moving forward. I also just finished a national public relations campaign for Crest Toothpaste and I am working on launching a line of jewelry. Working on CSI:Miami every week and being a full time wife and mother does not leave me too much more time to do anything else. LOL!

MIHM: What would you be doing if you were not involved with acting?

EL: Oh gosh. I could not imagine ‘not‘ working in my current profession. If I had to think about it, I think I would be working in the travel industry. My husband and I love to travel. Right now I am just really happy to have the best job in the world and to have a healthy and happy family!
